I'm not pregnant at the moment, but we're trying... and hoping for a girl. I was thinking of this name... Meriyah Nicole (pronounced like Mariah). Any other suggestions for names for a mixed baby (white mom, african-american dad)?

Dad likes the name... says it has to be something that's not too "whitified" as he puts it, lol.. that's why I specified about the mixed name.

I think Mariah Nicole is a nice name but if you really want to change the spelling of Mariah try something like Maraya(h) or change the "E" in your spelling choice to an "A" (Mariyah). I think it looks better that way and it should help clear up some of the pronounciation confusions.
As far as other names, just about anything could go. There's nothing abnormal about a biracial baby so their name shouldn't have to be any different from that of a baby from single race parents.
I personally am a fan of names that have that have the long "A" and -lynn sound in it like Cailyn, Daylin, Tailynn, Jaelyn, Jadyn and so forth.
But I also like names that are similar to Mariah, I've known people who have either had a name or named their children names like Naziah, Jemayah, Camaya, Anaya, Amaya, etc.
I hope this helps and best of luck to you guys, I hope that you are blessed with the child that you desire.

If you go with Meriyah...spell a way that it will be pronounced correctly like Mariah or Moriah. The spelling may look unique but it can only complicate things for the child.
Mariah Nicole is a pretty name though. I would stick with that

I think Meriyah looks awful. I would just use the original spelling and save your daughter the hassel. I don't like Nicole as a middle name. It seems boring and filler. What about....
Neila or Neela
Malia or Maleah
Mahalia
Mercedes
Maren
Maeve

I like it, but not the spelling. It would be hard to pronounce correctly.
A little girl is a little girl no matter if she is mixed or all one race. What does the dad think?

Meriyah is OK but I don't love it.
Personally, I don't like this idea of having names that are "too white" or "too black". As long as we all keep thinking that way, there will always be names that are considered 'white' names or 'black' names. We all need to be thinking of "people names". Sorry if this sounds judgemental.
