It means that the sleeves, pants, and shirts are all shorter than the regular clothes. I think the pants generaly have a 30" inseam. Of course, if you are small enough to be looking at the petites (like me), you will find that the petites section is not petite enough.

Short legs.
My mom and I wear the same size around but she wears petite because her legs are shorter. We can go into a store, select the identical brand and size and share pants except for this one feature.

I have tried on petite pants and, they were my number size. The only thing I could figure out is that they are short.

short... & weight has nothing to do with it. The sizes in petites go up just like regular clothing.

I am petite, i am 5'0 and 119 pounds. But it's more how short you are, especially in the legs.
You know you're seriously petite when you have to hem all of your pants.
