Why everyday on Yahoo answers we have to read why whites and African Americans stereotyping each other? Everytime a question like this comes up it brings out the whites against the African Americans and the African Americans against the whites? Can't we just have fun answering peoples questions without bringing race in to it?

I'm not trying to start anything and I'm certainly not trying to sterotype anyone bythe way I phrased my words. And if I offended anyone by my question my apologies.

Whites and African Americans?

How about "Whites and Blacks", you just stereotyped every black person as "African American".

In that case, I'd like to be called Anglo-Saxon American, instead of "white" or "whitey". In truth, I am just American.

OK, so "most" black people in the USA are of African descent, some are from other countries. In Mexico they are African Mexican, and in Canada they are African Canadian.
However, many modern day black people are descendant from American slaves. A little closer to home if you think about it. So their immediate roots are "American". Like me, plain old American.

To add a prefix as "African", as though we can't see that you are black to begin with, is redundant.

Oh, one more "food for thought", if it weren't for the war in South Africa in the early 1960's, I would have been born in Africa by American parents, thus truly making me African-American, more so than anyone else.

Sadly, no. I'd love to have a stereotype-free zone, but some people have to ruin it for everyone. You're better off ignoring these types of questions since the people aren't going anywhere.

This is just a slice of life. Imagine what is said in barbershops & coffee shops across the country. I think its a good opportunity to read what people really think. People are much more brave on blogs like this as opposed to being in your face-one to one saying the garbage that is said.

Rob, unlike you and me there are a lot of idiots out there, I've learned to laugh at those insane questions. It's amusing that people are that stupid.
