Here is what the Encyclopaedia Britannica, 9th edition (1875) says about the materials and construction of the Great Pyramid:
"At this time the Egyptians must have reached a proficiency in the mechanical arts of which we can form no conception. They seem to have been able to quarry rocks of the hardest stone, even granites -- to transport them to great distances, to raise huge blocks, vast monolith obelisks, that would puzzled our engineers with their best tackle -- and, more wonderful still, they appear to have had the power not only of polishing granite, but of carving that most stubborn material with utmost facility, large surfaces and even huge statues being covered with hieroglyphics of the most minute kind and of the highest finish.
It is impossible to discover how this was done, for though Herodotus (ii. 124, 125) tells us they had iron tools, it was long before the conversion of that metal into steel had been found out; and with all the best modern tools of steel, it is difficult and costly to carve even plain letters in granite.
(...) The stone was quarried in the Arabian mountains, and none were less than 30 feet long. They were conveyed by the Nile to newly constructed road, three quarters of a mile long, 60 feet broad, and in cutting of 48 feet. This road, of polished stone, carved with figures, took ten years to complete. Twenty years were spent in building the pyramid itself."

It is built primarily of sandstone blocks. Some Granite was used to support internal spaces. It originally had a facade of polished white limestone that was said to be visible from the Sinai peninsula. Many have speculated on how it was built. There is a general consensus that an earthen ramp was used to get blocks up the structure but theories differ on whether it was straight or spiraled around the pyramid. Some archeologists have even interpreted hieroglyphs to speculate that they harnessed wind power with great kites to move massive stone blocks. What is known is that they used copper saws to cut stone, using sand as an abrasive. There was a large workers' village near the site for skilled artisans. The sandstone was quarried on site. Unfinished blocks were found half cut out of the gound.

The quarry that the materials used to built the great pyramid was found up the Nile I think it is near Aswan. Mainly Granite was used. limestone plaster was used to cover the outside. there are a number of different theories as to how it was built but no one really knows .

khufus pyramid was built over several decades and there a few theories on how it was built. ie. from the inside out, with a crude elevator system and the favorite among most hisorians is the ramp system. its made mostly of carved sandstone. if your really interested watch for "engineering egypt" on the national geographic channel. it will tell you most of what your looking for in depth.
