I have a black convict he use to look lonely and depressed so I got the female for him, now he hides in a rock and refuses to come out even for meals. Will he starve himself? I am really scared can someone help!

He won't starve himself, that's nothing to really worry about at all. He's just a little freaked by the new fish in his turf, give him a few more days and he should get right back to normal. If I can help further, feel free to email me.

convicts are a territorial fish.if he feels threatened by the new addition you can sometimes fool them about their territory by moving the tank decorations around so he thinks he's somewhere else and needs to re-establish himself at the same time this puts both fish on an even keel to discover their "new" surroundings

Hello joe.... i would suggest u to give more time... so that he would feel comfortable with the environment... most of the fish when bought would behave like this only... so don't worry... Give him some more time... if still its not alright... mail me... i have another idea.... i hope it would definetely work out.. if he is not alright.....

i dont know much a bout convicts, but maybe he is gaurding some eggs in there. or the female is a bully

Maybe he's afraid of the new fish. Try separating them and see what happens.
