Hi there, my girlfriend is giving birth to our new baby in about 4months, at that time she will not be able to continue going to her lectures regularily. I was wondering if it would be illegal for one of her class mates to vocaly record the lecture & replay it back to her so she can continue in her education.

Thankyou it is much appreciated & will help alot.

Cheers

I am a senior lecturer at a polytechnic in Otago, and it is customary in my institution for lecturers to deposit lecture notes and the slide show itself in a shared folder which is fully accessible to students from home.
If you ask the lecturer in question about options to secure a copy of the lecture, he or she will most likely be happy to make them available to you, especially if you explain why you need them.
Other than that, recording would be perfectly fine with me if you ask me first. But this comes down to personal preference.

The spoken be conscious is a overall performance, and as such is risk-free below copyright. The professor owns that copyright. If he supplies permission to record, then you may record. although, he could additionally ought to offer you convey permission to reproduction and sell those recordings. it incredibly is a mechanical license. in spite of if many could help record their lectures to your guy or woman own tips, I doubt any could help replica and redistribute devoid of a minimum of receiving a license value. in case you gain this devoid of permission, you is normally sued.

Legality has nothing to do with it. If you want to record a professor's lectures, you HAVE to get the professor's permission.

I am sure if you explain the circumstances, any professor will allow recording of lectures. Honest is the best policy.

If the professor absolute REFUSES to allow his/herself to be recorded, ask the classmate if he/she will take good notes and pass them on to your girlfriend. Also, ask the professor for any other supplemental material to make up for the lack of permission to record.

I commend your girlfriend to want to continue her studies while becoming a new mom. I wish her, and you, the best of luck.
