what would cause or how can I check the cause of a windows communication manager error?

My computer has been acting strange since the windows update today, I have Vista Home Premium 32x. It said I needed to update the PCI Hardware Driver. Well I found the driver, but the computer froze before it could install. I managed to get the computer back up, but now it doesn't ask for the PCI Driver (I think because the Communication Manager Error)

One of Vista's driver bug probably. That's why many on XP are still on waiting mode for Vista SP1.
