It's a time card where you indicate the hours you worked. Some places have a clock where you punch a card when you start and finish work for the dya. Those time cards are what is used to pay you for the hours you worked.

thgey are getting phased out
but they were or are a card where you stamp you arrival and departure time on the job.
today many are computerized with a fingerprint or a id card.
