In just the last few days the floors running from the kitchen, through the dinning room, and into the family room have warped like crazy. A few weeks ago, we started using our roof-top swamp cooler again, but would that cause such a serious problem? Anyway, I need to get them fixed FAST. We are scheduled for a home inspection on the 31st to get our Fostering License, and these roller-coaster floors are not going to cut it! I know from previous floor repairs in other parts of the home that the walls are built on top of the floor boards, so I don't think I can just pull up the boards that are warped without having to take walls down - which is impossible! Please help! Any ideas for a quick and easy cheap repair would be helpful. Other than running away screaming, I just don't see what can be done!

I Fix this type of things all the time The only reason your floors warp like that you have a leak somewhere and if you don't stop it fast! it will cause more damage? i would look under the house its probably a pipe their plastic and leak sometimes? look under sinks run the water! stop the water leak first ! and start drying things out with fans And remove wet instillation anyway the floors have to be cut out and replace their is no way to flatten them out again you have a big problem good luck

Years ago when we lived in Charleston, we rented a trailer that ended up with the same problem. You will have to tear up the floors and replace, it will be very expensive and there is either a leak somewhere or its too damp underneath. should have had some extra vapor barrier between the ground and the sub-floor. Postpone your inspection, (we had to move) so don't know exactly how long or how much was involved in fixing it. there was talk of totaling out the trailer for insurance purposes, I think they did. you didn't say if cabinets, sinks etc. was involved. Sorry this isn't more optimistic, but your best bet is to get someone qualified to fix it. Call your local reputable manufactured housing dealer and ask for advice and/or who to see to repair this. (They would know the best way to deal with this ).Trailers are totally different than houses and have to be treated differently. This is the time to call an expert. and maybe your insurance agent cause it isn't going to be cheap or easy and you will probably have to move for at least a little while.

Without seeing these floors: I had to fix more then several in Vegas. These mobiles out there were old homes.
Your Swamp cooler has nothing to do with the floors, it's the way they're made and the materials used.

The ones I've run into were made inferior to homes. They had one half inch corn board for the sub floors with half inch plywood on top. The floors were like walking on cardboard. I Had to cut the entire floor out, along the walls, right down to the frames.
I then put in 3/4 inch plywood and new underlayment (cement board in the baths) and redid the floors.

It wasn't cheap and it wasn't fast. I would say to change your dates and make a loan.

You may want to reschedule that inspection.......
First, you need to find out what is making your floor warp like that, most likely that swamp cooler is leaking water onto the floor somewhere.....That may take sometime to find and fix. Then you have to deal with the floor......Sorry I don't think there is a quick fix on this one.......
Could be a costly one too........
Also don't use that cooler until you get it fixed......

Good Luck.........

I assume your floor has linolium on it? take your razor knife and carefully cut along the least obvious spot. peel it bad and repair the flooring. relay the lino. and glue it down securely.
