I work as a tech supervisor for a major mfgr. Of the issues we get, appx 60% are spyware/malware/greyware. Of those calls appx 90% have limewire/frost/bearshare/ares/morpheus.

P2P is a valid tool, but it should only be used by people who know what they're doing and only by those who understand the repercussions of their actions.

Limewire, bearshare and frost are marketed to the LEAST knowledgable of the users and virus and spyware distrubuters know this and distribute their wares accordingly.

Free music isn't free if you turn your 2000 dollar computer into a paperweight. Virus removal is NOT covered by your warranty.

As far as antivirus scanners, they are only a band aid. Think of them like the cops. The world would be a terrible place without cops, but do the prevent EVERY crime? No, there are alot more bad guys than good guys. Do the cops solve EVERY crime, no crimes go unsolved every day. The same with viruses and antivirus software. And by the way, only use ONE antivirus or they will fight each other and do NOT use the free security that you get from your ISP

ok u can find plenty of anti virus scanners that are free.
and to answer ur question i have downloaded 1000 s of
songs from limewire and bearshare and have never got a virus from downloading mp3's . however you should never
ever download any zip files from p2p because those are all
viruses it's so easy to put a virus in a zip file. I know
someone who downloaded some zip files which he thought
were games on bearshare like warcraft and such and his
pc got infected with more than 30 viruses. just download
music and nothing else ( also i live in canada so downloading free music is legal and you FBI ***** can
piss off). ok buddy on the bottom is right but like i said only download mp3 and all free p2p does come with some spyware thats how the make money

Hi there..

You can use any free antiviral software. I have suggested you AVG. You can download it from following link. Please don't forget to update it on regular basis.

As per my opinion, Peer-2-Peer is not safe. Mostly all viruses, worms and trojans transfer easily on this kind of software. It is open platform where you can share your stuff to others like other do same. You don't know really from whom you get stuff. May be he/she is hacker too. So, I don't suggest you P2P.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:
