I would say so. I would do a character from a play or film for a theatrical monologue, and I would do a solo presentation of ad copy for the commercial monologue.

Selecting a monologue isn't a matter of finding a great piece of drama. It has to be indivually suited for you and have characterisitics that will make it effective when presented.

There are monologue sites on line. For commercials, just take a full page ad from a magazine and read it top to bottom and you will find it ususally makes a good monologue.
