I think that's exactly what's going on, and I'm sick and tired of it. American companies want to be cheap, and move their businesses where they can pay people little to nothing, and now they are biting back. now they are threatening our futures by going after our children. I know there will never be another China made product in my home. Enough is enough

Actually it might be more effective if you boycott the multi-nationals that contract cheap, sweat shop and child labour so they can make greater profits and keep a bigger slice of the pie. Yes, these Chinese manufactures do not adhere to the standards that we expect to be followed, but surely it is the responsibility of the distributing companies to make sure that these products meet Australian standards. Matel is not some p** weak little back block operator, they have been in the toy business for a very long time.

Don't you think it may be more constructive to expect these companies that "outsource offshore" should take responsibility for what they sell and bear the brunt of your anger?

What about those people in China who work around those conditions? Most of the workers are under the age of 20. Does anyone worry about their health and what they are exposed to?

I'm willing to bet that you cannot go one week without buying anything "made in china".

How often do you shop at your local Wal Mart?

Americans are not lazy and they would love to have the jobs that have been outsourced to China!

Ok, they first started using dangerous substances because it was cheap. And guess, what, US citizens want their stuff cheap!!! This is the sole fault of the consumer demanding lower and lower prices. Sorry, but that's just how it is. They are not doing it to poison Americans, they're doing it to make a bloody buck, just like Americans.

Didn't I see a headline today that the 'boss' at the factory committed suicide? What's the story? I hope it wasn't intentional, but why now? They've been making them for years! Maybe my dad was right. He said people should be watching out for China; they'll be the downfall of America!

We are so conditioned to buy pre-made. The lap of luxury has turned into the lap of destruction. How soon before we begin to make the toys home made with our children?

I also want to know why Colgate did not carry out quality control testing before they sell us defected toothpaste and why Mattels did not carry out its own test and inspect their toys goods befor they sell them to our children? China's production practices are shoddy but big US multinationals should make sure products from foreign suppliers must meet US safety standards.
