I'm guessing you mean you want to know the difference between regular silver and Sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy, usually made with copper. This is to give it strength. This is why they use it to make silverware.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_silver
So regular silver is more pure, while sterling silver is about 7.5% other metals. So, better is relative. It depends on what you think of as better, purer or stronger :)
For jewelry, it would depend on the type and size of the jewelry. For anything that would be worn alot or is large, sterling would be better. Something like small earrings could be "pure".

Hi,
Sterling silver is a silver alloy (mixture of metals) with no more than 7.5% copper. Fine silver is 99.9% pure, but is too soft for large wearable objects.
Many manufacturers have added other metals such as germanium, zinc, platinum and many others, but so far as I know, the jury is out on which is "best."
Hope this helps.
FE.

notwithstanding if this is actual sterling, it won't turn your finger eco-friendly. to ensure that something to be called "sterling silver", this is going to be ninety two.5% organic silver. to envision to work out if a bite of jewelery is sterling silver, seek for a small "925" marked on it (on rings, its regularly on the interior). If it would not have this marking, this is in all likelihood no longer sterling. hardly, sterling silver will turn black, and could turn your dermis black, and "pit" (pitting is while small holes seem interior the silver). it is brought about via your physique chemistry (resembling an allergic reaction). If this occurs, once you're wearing genuine sterling silver, there's no longer something you're able to do approximately it. If this occurs, yet you nonetheless like the look of silver, i could reccomend wearing white gold, or possibly rhodium (the two resemble silver in visual appeal).
