This is breeding in a nutshell:
Moves from the dad, natures by the mom.
Mom will determine the egg group of the pokemon. In your case, to get a chimchar egg, you will need a female Infernape.

if you dont know which is the guy or girl, there would be a symbol next to thier name if its an arrow pointing up with a circle under it that means its a boy. if its a girl it would have a cross under the circle. and the egg will hatch from the female species and develop moves from the dad. if they are both boys, or girls, then they wont make an egg. since these are starters, its rare that they are girls so.........ill get yourslf a ditto or keep trying.
