I've been a Mets fan since I was a kid, back when guys like Darryl Strawberry and Gary Carter were on the team. I liked the Mets because my father was a Mets fan, and my family lived for 10 years in Flushing.

But I also liked the Mets because they had this energy about them, and when they won, they didn't take themselves so seriously, they had fun, and still do. They're the offbeat alternative to the stoic and serious Yankees. Even when they were bad (names like Vince Coleman and Mo Vaughn come to mind) that just made the good times even sweeter.

So what about the rest of you? What makes you like "your team"?

Yes the Yankees have been getting along very well, even with the new players. When the Yankees had an off day in Clevland, CC Sabathia took nearly all the team to a Cavaliers game! Everyone's been getting along great, it's like they're all best friends on a little league team! BQ1- Melky Cabrera has been our guy from the 7th inning on. The Yankees have had alot of walk off/come from behind wins this season, but when I read this question, the first person I thought of was Melky! BQ2- Derek Jeter has won 3 gold gloves and 3 silver sluggers, and I'm hoping he wins his 1st ever MVP award this year! =) BQ3- No I havent seen it, is it any good?

It does not really mean so..... I lived on Long Island and loved the Yankees! Being transplanted from SF/Oakland territory in the 80's was a lot of fun because I was going to live where the real baseball fans lived, and that was back east!

It was fun watching the Phillies, Yankees, Mets and Orioles!

I'd say that even now, I love the Yankees even though I'm back in California. Can't say enough about that dynasty and it's true fans!

The Yankees. I was born and raised in NY. I had a choice between the Mets and Yankees. Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson, Bobby Mercer, Catfish Hunter, Goose Gossage, they made the choice easy. I am still a Yankee fan today because they never give up. The Owner spends the money to make sure we have a competitive team every year. We may not win every year but we compete. It is hard to find fault with an organization willing to do all that for the fans. Go Yanks!

I grew up in Brooklyn a Mets fan, and still love the Mets. Those were my guys too: Gary Carter, Lenny Dykstra, Wally Backman, Gooden, Darling, Franco.....
As hard as it is to change, I had to change to my new hometown Tampa Bay Rays. I don't suppose anyone would understand why I would love the Rays, but I really do. I love going to Tropicana Field to see them try and hustle every game. They have a raw energy to them that I like. I proudly wear my D-Rays hat and shirt around. They will get it together one of these days and when they do, watch out Yanks and Red Sox - the Devil Rays will one day be the AL east power house. Well, that's what I hope for anyway.
Thanks for the cool question. Baseball is great.

Could be the city your born in, a favorite player or just the teams work ethic. There are a lot of factors that can determine a 'favorite' team. Mines team is the Ottawa Senators, used to be Montreal Canadiens until their shoddy treatment of Patrick Roy.

I've been a Bluejays fan since the first pitch opening day back in 1977. Before that I watched baseball but wasn't a fan of any one team.
