I want my house to smell good, what can I use that actually works?

Finding the stink source and eliminating it is the best. Then you can use something like Pure Ayre. Febreeze was developed only for eliminating odors on fabric, not the air...it needs to cling onto something.

I remember using Zorbx.....or something like that....years ago, in another life.

Several friends use OdoBan from Sam's Club.

eI like to use steam on my kitchen items to kill bacterias in the fridge, stove, and sink disposal, etc.

Febreeze anti allergens is awesome. Most any febreeze is well worth the money for freshness. Keep the furnace filters sprayed with it to keep the air circulation fresh throughout the home. Spray the closets and the trash containers with it to keep the odors down.

Keep the household trash outside instead of smelling up the home.
Do not smoke in the house, and keep pet odors outside if possible. Pour baking soda down the drains to keep them from smelling sour.

those baking soda boxes with the removeable side panels.

they don't leave fragrance though.
