And whose photos are you keeping on your wallet now?

2007-08-14 13:04:06 · 26 answers · asked by Anonymous in Arts & Humanities Philosophy

I'm sorry that some people find this question quite offensive. I didn't mean to intrude into your personal lives,..not even much in your wallet matters. It's just that I find it amazing that there are wonderful people who just want their loved ones to be in their thoughts anywhere; be it in supermarkets, or in jails.
Well, anyone is entitled to his own opinion. Each one has his own choice of words to say... and even have his own choice of questions to answer. I truly respect that.

Thank you 'MOON' for helping me explain this.

I will have to disagree with my wonderful friends that answered before me (I gave you all thumbs up, as I always do :) ), and I sincerely hope they won't be upset! I starred this question as soon as it was asked because I liked it. And I still do. I think I understood it in a completely different way than the way most of you did. I could be wrong, but why would a person who is always so nice, and writes beautiful answers, ask a mean or offensive question? I honestly don't think he meant to upset anyone!

I think he just wants to know what is really important to us, so much that we choose to carry a representation of it - photos of our loved ones, for example - with us, all the time.

I think that this brings a balance to the material world, brings emotion, feelings, love, to the coldness of money and business.

I carry photos of my parents and of my niece and nephew. :)

Hope I'm not too off here and, again, hope I'm not upsetting anyone!

Much love to you all!! :)

It's way better to keep photos than it is to keep those harmful credit cards. :) I keep cards (most of them business cards & store discount cards) in my wallet, but I keep pictures of my nephews in the slot where my driver's license should be. The license is too hard to slide out of that spot, so I stick it with the other cards. I'll definitely be updating my wallet when I become a mommy to make room for baby pictures. When trying to get OUT of credit card debt, photos make a much better substitute.

I keep photographs IN my wallet so the people I have in there know how special they are to me. I have two photos, one of my fiance and one of my cats together, both of which passed away last year.

Who said a wallet should only keep money and credit cards etc?

In my wallet I have the usual stuff, money, cards etc. I also keep a picture of my kids because when I open my wallet for whatever reason, I love to see their picture.

I don't know who made the rule that wallets are only for the things you stated...but mine carries much more than things of monetary value. I even have a dried 4 leaf clover in there!

Frankly, I didn't know there were any rules about what one should or shouldn't keep in their wallets. That's entirely up to the individual. I don't keep photos in my wallet, but so what? Some of the people here expressed reasons of affection, & others bashed them. Surely an elderly person who gets pleasure out of "sharing" photos of their grandchildren can't be such a pain in the pot to endure! (Belial De Sade) It's not my place to think, or say anything--if someone wants to keep marbles or dental floss. Just mind one's business & do what works for you.

Who made you the Wallet Police anyway? I will keep anything I want in my wallet thank you! A wallet is by definition, a place to hold valuables close and safe. If I can metaphorically hold someone close and safe by including them in my butt portfolio, it's my business. You put what you want in your wallet and I'll put what I want in mine! If you want to know just who is in my wallet, you'll have to catch me in a better mood. I don't feel like disclosing personal information to someone who considers themselves the Emily Post of Wallet Etiquette! Something to consider:

Somebody makes an awful lot of money selling little plastic sheaths to put wallet sized pictures in. Others make big piles of money selling wallet sized photos! Instead of harassing the addicts, why not go after the pushers and the dealers! Honestly, next you are going to tell us we can't keep pennies in our penny loafers. Do you work for the Department of Homeland Security?

A wallet is supposed to hold small flat items of value... some consider pictures to have emotional value as they refresh memories!
Nothing wrong with that... Would you say your jeans' pocket is only to hold a wallet?
I used to keep one of my daughter until I got a cell phone with a camera. After all there is some use to those things...!

So whenever you open up your wallet-purse you can see the face of the people you love most and get a good feeling in your heart knowing that there is someone you love with you wherever you go ; even if they are just with you in spirit or in your heart . I personally love to see my boyfriend's picture all the time since he is sooo handsome and I won't be able to see him in person for atleast 2 years .

Why the heck should I keep photos in my wallet? I have cards of all walks of life in there. Rather than my favorite pictures of my kitty cat. Besides that, who wants to ruin a perfectly good wallet with pictures?
