I had someone come to me very worried that they could be pregnant. They are over two weeks late, experiencing breast pain, swollen nipples with now noticeable blue veins, bloating, and extreme heart burn which then causes some nausea. However, they have tested once every few days throughout the past two weeks and are only receiving negative test results.

Could the fact that this person is overweight have any effect on when she could expect a positive test result if she is pregnant? Is hCG a fat soluble hormone and thus, that is why she has not yet tested positive?

And, have any of you tested negative repeatedly only to find out (through a blood test or at your doctor's) that you were actually pregnant?

Thanks!
Peace,
Jenn

I am very overweight and had a positive HPT within 2 days of missing my period. Now because she is overweight that has a lot to do with missing a period for no reason. And a lot of the symptoms you mentioned are ones that usually don't come until later in pregnancy and all can be signs that her period is on it's way. If she is really concerned she should get the blood test.

im overweight, the first time i got pregnet i was a day late and the test (all 100) showed up to be positive....with my second child it took about a month after i conceived for anything to show up, i asked the doctor why that was and she said that i must have had really low hormone levels that the test wasnt picking up and that i was also taking the pill with my second when i got pregnet and she said that may have had something to do with it....i dont think being overweight has anything to do with it

No. I am a little overweight, and when i was pregant I found out 2 days after i missed my period. and I have it confrimed when i was only 2w3ds. so i dont think being overweight has anything to do with it.. she should go get a blood test done.

thats a good question! I am overweight, and I usually don't get a positive until I am at least a week late. But by two weeks it was always very clear (plus by then my moning sickens is in full swing, so its impossible to miss!!).

No. Being over weight has nothing to do with it. The test must detect the pregnancy hormone.
