I was on birth control pills called Ortho cyclen (NOT ortho-tri) and had really bad side effects. So I went back to Planned Parenthood and the nurse gave me new brand pills called Lutera.

The nurse told me to keep taking Ortho active pills until Saturday and start Lutera, the new pills, on Sunday, which caused me to skip my period. (She said it's perfectly fine to skip period once in a while especially if you have bad cramps)

I have gone out of town for few days and I forgot to bring my pills with me. I missed 2 pills in a row and I started my period. I didn't know what to do so I kept taking the active pills even though i was on my period, and next week, I'll be taking the sugar pills.

What should I do? Should I start the new pack or finish the pack i'm taking?

I'd really appreciate any advices from professional nurses or any personal opinions.

I would keep taking the old pills until you can get to the new ones. Then start them. Call the nurse and at least let them know what's going on and get some advice. I've switched pills soooo many different times. Each time it threw my cycle off a bit.

I would say keep on taking the pack and start the new one but I would recommend checking with the nurse as well to see what she says.
