The tougher question is rationalizing the inequities of inter league play. Undoubtedly, maintaining regional rivalries like Mets/Yanks when both teams are playing well creates differences that affects both teams. Indians love playing Pirates, Cards can feast on Royals. Division races can come down to a single victory to reach postseason, and the schedule can influence the outcome. NFL schedules based on winning record from the prior year, giving worse teams an easier schedule. Pirates will be 15 straight years below 500.

I would call it a GIFT for you! The Rays have always played well against the Yankees since they came into expansion.
And I think you made that up, because I counted the games and they both play 18 times. I knew it was odd when you said that because every team in every division plays the same amount of games within the division against each other.
Look at the schedule again. The Yankees had one postponed.

First of all, each team plays the Devil Rays 19 times (not 18).
Second, were you crying about this when the Yanks had their cakewalk schedule after the all star break?
It's all downhill from here.

It's not fair, but it wasn't fair when the Red Sox natural rival was the Braves and the Yankees' was the Mets during that long stretch of time when the Mets were terrible. MLB should stop goofing around with the schedule just to try to squeeze an extra 0.5% in revenues out.

That's one of the things about unbalanced scheduling. Seriously, how can Tampa Bay expect to ever compete when they have to play Boston and the Yankees all the time?

well i think the only reason why the yanks and boston are any good is because they play junk teams like toronto, devil rays and baltimore
i remeber when two of those other teams made an effort to win-and the yanks and boston finished in last and second to last on a regular basis.
