It looks thick enough to trace a design on, perhaps something Celtic, as that appeals to both men and women. Then take a sharp V-tool, that is usually used for wood, cut the design into the top of the bracelet, following the lines. Cut just below the surface. Then take a leather dye that will stand out, and with a thin paintbrush, paint it into the design, using one, or more colors.
Just fell out of my head when I looked at it, onto this page.

I aggree with lu. You could also buy some metal rivets from a craft store and punch them into the bracelet, and maybe lace another piece of string or leather through the holes.

I don't know if this is a good idea or not. Have you thought of adding watch on top of your bracelet? You can probably add metal spike, rhinestone, sea shells, bones from bead store, charms, etc.

I would get some leather stamps (I'm not sure what they're called, you know the kind that you kind of hammer into the leather once you get the leather wet and it leaves an impression) and tamp your name or initials into it, or some other kind of design showing something that you're into.
