Picking ripe watermelons

Choosing a ripe watermelon is a challenge. In the field or garden it is much easier than in the store because you will have more clues. The indications to look for in the garden
are the .......................
............drying of the "pigtail" or
tendril closest to the melon on the vine............
If it dries while the leaves and rest of the vine looks good, the melon should be ripe.
.......thumping the melon doesn't always work!

When the stem breaks off with a gentle pull or tug ....It's READY.

There are 3 the thank you to tell while a watermelon is in a position to be picked. a million. The tendril next to the stem would be dry. 2. you are able to thump it consisting of your finger. it could have a lifeless sound. a pointy sound capacity it is not ripe. 3. turn it over. The section that touches the floor must be yellow. If all that pans out you're solid to pass.

Do not thump the mellon to check its ripeness. Look at the spot where it is sitting on the ground, and check that color. If it is yellow, go ahead and pick it. If it is white, leave it for longer.
