They'll say something like "So and so, a WWE former champion, found dead" or something silly like that. How silly is that? When Silvester Stallone dies, will they call him a former heavywieght boxing champ? When Michael Doulgass dies will they call him a former president because he was one in Independence Day?

LOL. Good question. I really don't have a specific answer to your question, but I think it is because they have to say something important about the dead guy. Its like if a "John Doe" dies, people normally says something like "the former caw tipping champion John Doe was found dead nearby the barnyard movie studios ,..... blah blah blah" is kind of stupid, I know but people is like that

The reason why they say it like that is because that was an accomplishment the person had in their life. Silvester Stallone and Michael Douglas are actors, and that's what they will be called when they pass.
Wrestling is a career, just like actors, congressmen, lawyers, mechanics, beauticians, nurses, doctors... etc.

Just a way of identifying him, and telling how well known he was in the industry. It's not like being a heavyweight boxing champion in that sense, so you are right, but if he's called a champ chances are good that people have heard of him.

P.S. Michael Douglas was in "The American President." He was good in it too.
