Shouldn't yahoo answers be a place where you learn something new that can be verified from a third party source (like the Census, Bureau of Economic Analyses, Treasury Department, NASA, American Meteorological Society, Library of Congress, etc)

instead

of a place of hearsay, anecdotes, and unverified opinions posing as facts?

As the late Senator Patrick Moynahan said "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts."

Opinions come from facts, but you can't just bring all those facts from all the little places they are found.

I want to state my source, but the truth it is it they from 100s of sources that I cant remember. If you read clearly how someone writes an answer, you can tell what sort of facts they have compared to just an opinion. I myself like to state if its my own opinion because I came to the facts myself with tid bits from different sources.

I can't write a book, but I share as much knowledge as I can the best way i know how.

The best part is, I didn't spend 100k for a masters degree to share this information with you or forcing you to buy my book.

Political questions that can be verified by facts, yes.

However, I believe most people who use this service IN GENERAL are looking for advice/suggestions from someone with prior knowledge. Take it w/ a grain of salt.

I personally love it and use it almost weekly b/c I'm inquisitve by nature.

Also, if it's too opinionated or not the answer your were looking for, you can always do the research yourself.

If this were an official forum for debate, then I may agree. However most knuckle dragging dipshitz with a computer and access to the internet can contribute here.

Might I interest you in pursuing more academic message boards. Your quest for facts rather than fiction might be satisfied via that route.

Proven facts are few and far between. Everything seems to have a contradictory statement. Too much is left up to the interpretation of those who wish to sway our thinking one way or the other.

Yahoo Answers was never meant to replace any political think tanks so the odds are you will see speculation, conjecture and outright lies and that's all before 9:30

I find myself browsing the Politics' questions and trying to avoid the trolls and blowhards. Sometimes I look around and just leave the category even though it is one of my favorite sections when the "conversation" is good.

NICKA,

You really believe someone just because they sound like they know what they're talking about? Not a great idea.

If someone thinks they know something based on fact, that fact shouldn't be hard to find with a quick search.
