Are you using an external monitor?

If not read below.

Power off the laptop for 5 minutes.
Turn on the Laptop with the battery removed.
Keeping pressing F8 until menu comes up or it goes into safe mode.

Run safe mode

Right click on a blank area of the Desktop

Left click on Properties

Left click on the settings TAB

Set your screen resolution to 1024 X 768 by moving the slider near the bottom left.

Click OK and restart your laptop.

Let it stay on for at least 10 minutes if it goes into the black screen again.

Good Luck

it's possible that the 2nd monitor output was enabled as the primary monitor when your system was shut down by pressing the off button. try connecting a monitor to the monitor port on the back of your laptop and see if there is a signal, if the screen comes up on the second monitor then you should be able to set the default back to the attached monitor by using the display settings window.
