iam native american and french, i came to the uk at 6 years old, i plan to emigrate from the uk, once i get my psychological problems addressed.
i do have a problem with this, yes i do, because firstly im not british and i resent being percieved as one.
i have a tanned complexion and blue eyes, so im depressed because my native heritage doesnt show through enough..i want to be accepted into my own culture and people of ethnicity, not into a culture iam not or dont belong.....where can i meet people of ethnicity or the same background who will accept me?
i cannot wait to emigrate, but i cant right now because i have alot going on.
the other day a british man addressed me in his common tongue as '' son''..i was deeply insulted, as iam not his son...
and i was angry to..iam technically half native half french. but i cannot trace my native roots..i just want to belong, and be accepted by my own culture and people of ethnicity..otherwise id rather be a lone wolf. can anyone relate to this?

YOu know who you are ...advise them and if they choose to be ignorant just let them be ..that's what I do

but sometimes it is nt disrespect by addressing someone as son does not mean it is culturally link some old people do it to anyone younger than them . He did not mean it as an insult !!!!

you are you and more than just a collection of genes. If you have blue eyes accept it you clearly cant accept youself at the moment and seem to be transferring this onto your ethnicity also if you have blue eyes then you probably have some norwegian in you you have to accept that possibility instead of wishing for something you cant change also you seem to believe everything you see on TV just becuase we are sensitive to racism in our news broadcasts and dont tolerate it dosent mean that thought s about race have to define your existance if you cant accept that other peoples world does not revolve around your ethnicity then you will continue to feel offended at every turn you make how can you be upset with people when you know that "son" is an affectionate term and also you do have blue eyes so you will appear to be a british native Id say that you dont know how lucky you are since you fit in you will never experience true racism like africans, pakistanis and indians.
If it really bugs you get brown contact lenses and go on a sunbed if it helps just stop thinking like your genes are all that matters you are person even if you are in hospital and all your body is failing you genes do not make a person.

First of all, dye your hair black. Most French or Indian people, are not fair haired. I am Irish and Italian, but American, first and moremost...who cares if they percieve you that way? do you talk with a British accent? It reminds me of the Mexicans, or the Muslims that come here, and don't want to be a part of anything to do with us..but they do take the money and all the freebies we have to offer..."Son", is an affectionate way of addressing people some times..I think you are far too sensitive over EVERYTHING to be honest with you....You seem like a very nice, sensitive person,...but you really need to find something to occupy your mind with, other than if someone thinks you are British or not..How the hell would they KNOW???? Unless you make a conserted effort to TELL them...Sorry,...it is very upsetting to me.

You are a human being first and foremost. People cannot possibly guess what mix of genes you have and why is it relevant. My great grandmother was Australian aboriginal but I don't expect people to be able to tell that by looking at me or my mum. Nor do I wish to be defined by the haphazard selection of people whose genes have contributed to me being created - I am grateful to them, thank them for all that I have but they are not me. Why would you be offended by someone calling you son - you have lived here long enough to be aware it is not literal. My advice to you is to get over yourself - your current way of being will bring only unhappiness for you. Be satisfied to be accepted for who you are and what you stand for. Or do you feel somehow that having Native American blood makes you somehow special - all human beings are equal. If you had a DNA test and discovered that you are in fact made up of genes from a wide variety of races what would that mean to you.
