Before you spend big $$$, read http://www.askthebuilder.com/599_Sewer_Gas_Smell.shtml

I doubt your problem is a dry trap, that is the water evaporates from the trap letting in gas. I'd be looking at a common problem and one most half/**** plumbers don't know about and that's the vent....the pipe that goes up through the roof. If that is clogged from rust, bird droppings, old nests, etc it destroyes the air cushion in the plumbing system.

The article gives several other ideas possibilities including a cracked line. But the crack could be from old age, especially if it is cast iron. This concrete story could be a cock and bull epic! Call another plumber and see what they say. Not all plumbers are equally trained or proficient or.......honest.

I would try some Draino or Liquid Plumber first before digging up anything; maybe that will open it up;
that sounds like an awful lot of money for what he says to do. Get some more estimates. Most of them are free.

In town or country. If the pipe is broken you will have to find pipe that will fit over the section you must cut.First find out the size.Home Depot or Lowes should be able to fix you up.Ace Hardware is better yet.

If possible find the place where the concrete was poured and dig it out.........check the pipe if it is cracked...It would have to be replaced...If you have had alot of rain OR WATER, THAT COULD BE PART OF THE PROBLEMgood luck......

I have written many answers that involved vents. This looks like another one. Since "all" your drains are affected and since you are not getting "sewer back up", I suggest your vent is the problem. Cheaper fix too.
