I LOVE the name Phoenix for a little girl, not so sure about it for a little boy though.

I once had a pet rooster named Phoenix.

I love the name for a boy. It also reminds me of Linkin' Park's bassist Phoenix.

Good luck and congrats!

The only Phoenix I know is a self re-named super butch lesbian. I wouldn't recommend it for a boy.

It almost has too much personality, maybe it could be a middle name and if your son/daughter ends up having that personality, he/she can choose to use it.

Sounds like "My mommy was tripping on acid at Woodstock while I was conceived" to me.

Your kid will go through life having to reply, "Yes, my parents were goofy slaves to trendiness" his or her whole life.

Or you could make a fashion statement of it i.e. the parents of Leaf and River, and have kids named Phoenix, Manticore, Harpy, Kraken, Sphinx, Dragon, and Valkyrie as well...

If you're REALLY bent on naming a child for a mythological creature, try Undine for a girl, or Grendel for a boy.

I must..I live there...AH hah..but seriously,I think it depends on what you feel about it..Like... I myself wouldn't use it, because it reminds me of River Phoenix..so I would feel it was a bad omen...But if you like it you should use it..If you love your child and build the self esteem they will need in their lives then it really doesn't matter what you name them..If I had to decide on male or female I think I would have to go male.

I like it, it's a rare name not to common. That's good. It isn't too feminine or it's not manly either. It's a perfect name.

I actually do like the name Phoenix, most likely for a girl. It'll set her apart from other kids in a good way, so she'll be a unique individual. But while we're on the subject of naming kids after places, you could also use the names:

*Albany
*Boston
*Brooklyn
*Chelsea
*Cheyenne
*Dallas
*Georgia
*London
*Madison
*Moriah
*Netanya
*Peyton
*Riley
*Sahara
*Salem
*Sydney
*Topanga
*Tracey
*Tucson (sp? Pronounced TOO-sahn)
*Winona
