Going on the pill can help regulate the cycle to get the period started again. I would recommend checking with your doctor about the possibility of hormone imbalances as being a reason for your periods being irregular.

ok first up its good to know that while you are on the pill you never have a real period, you have a withdrawel bleed from taking the 7 days off the hormones each month, you do not ovulate whilst on the pill. Now dont panic i went off the pill in Feb this year and only just got my first period last week. it just takes your body a while to adjust, my gyno wasn't concerned. If you really want them that bad then maybe try taking the after morning pill. I took it 2 weeks ago then a week later my period came so that may have had something to do with it. Meanwhile enjoy not having the inconvienience. also they may not come back as long and heavy as before so just wait and see. good luck

Your doctor does not seem too knowledgeable or caring. Your long period is just a symptom of something serious going on with your body. He tries to eliminate the symptoms and not to treat the cause. I would suggest starting looking for a better doctor asap.

What concerned me here is that you said your feet are cramping? Are your legs cramping as well? I'm hoping that you do not have some sort of blood clot or something. I would go talk to your regular doctor or go get a second opinion from another OB/GYN and do so right away.

Some women just have irregular cycles. You also maybe off kilter because you were on the pill. Do as your doctor suggested and see if your cycle returns. If it does not your doctor should look for other causes.
