Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama received about $1.5 million in contributions this year from college professors and others in the education field, outpacing the party's front-runner, Sen. Hillary Clinton, who got $940,000 from academics.

Still, Clinton's near-$1-million second-place finish was almost as much as academia's total combined donations to leading Republican candidates Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain

Republicans are brutal with their budget cuts to education. since it's not an obvious quick profit, they don't see any reason to support it.
Teachers and students suffer in states with R. legislatures/governors and their tightwad mentality.

Do I really think that ... Well, if you can't get over it, then I can see why you'd have a hard time believing anyone else could. In the meantime, the people polled mostly fall into one of two categories: people who haven't been following the election closely, or people who believe that "electability" should be a factor in choosing a president. For the second group, their fears will be allayed when he finally beats John McCain for the nomination. For the first group, all Romney has to do is keep running for president. If there's one thing that polls "show", it's that the more people hear his message, the more people vote for him.

Most colleges support the left wing because their students are mostly left wing. Academia calls more to the left wing.

Most people high up in Academia are left wing liberal loonies, more so than Obama and Clinton. Birds of a feather stick together.
