1)Gavin
2)Rowan
3)Dakota
I guess nameing him Gavin would depend if your brother would ever want to name one of his boy's a JR. Just ask him.....
Congrat's and Good-Luck :)

Rowan would be my choice. As for Gavin if you are not comfortable with naming your son after your brother (people will assume this even if your not) then don't do it. I don't care for Dakota at all.
1. Rowan
2. Gavin
3. Dakota

Sorry, I love the name Dakota... for a girl. All the Dakota's I've met have been female.
I like Gavin then Rowan

1) Rowan. Classic and folkloric with a "romantic, sensitive man" sound to it. (Rowan is a type of tree said to have magical properties.)
2) Gavin. If your husband doesn't like it, a good variation is Gideon.
3) Dakota. It sounds more feminine than masculine for one, and place names are so 1997.

I don't think you should name your son Gavin, because of your brother. I don't like Dakota at all, but I love Rowan!

1. Gavin
followed distantly by the other names:
2. Rowan
3. Dakota (WAY too trendy)
I think it's nice to use a family name for your child's middle name - maybe use Gavin as a middle name and pick another first name?

i hear you on that, its not bad to name your child after relatives but it could cause some jealousy like other people saying y did you name him after me! my b/f wanted to name our daughter after his mom but i didnt do it because will for one i didnt really like the name and for two my mom would have been crushed! i love gavin its a very cute name i would give it a 1
then rowan i would give a 2
dakota a 3
i would go with rowan since gavin is already taken :)
congrats
