I know that this is "Monday night quarterbacking," and is therefore a bit unfair to Pres. Bush because he did not know the future, the advantage that we have now with 20/20 hindsight. But so many people seem to strongly believe that the president has blundered every step of the way, and seems to think that they could have done a much better job.

Take the top issues which appeared in these last eight years, including a failing economy, 9/11/01, Al Qaida taking refuge in Afghanistan, Iraq/Iran/N. Korea challenges, New Orlean's hurricane disaster, social security failure in progress, and domestic security issues, to name a few. You don't have to justify yourself, but just briefly describe how you would have resolved these very challenging issues and how much better off the USA would have been with your solutions.

Reduced our military presence in the world. If your country wants our military help then you can *pay* us first.

Stop giving out foreign aid; most of that money is squirreled away by corruption, anyway.

Banned the construction of any new coal/lignite-based power plants. Nuclear plants only, thank you, in addition to increased wind-farming and lining skyscrapters/home roofs with solar panels. Finally, since we do depend on oil I would have increased exploration in the Gulf and Alaska.

Completely stopped any form of domestic aid for those who are not medically incapable of working or elderly with insuffient income. If you *can* work, then you will either work or starve. No Nanny State!

Ended the War on Drugs and legalize most of those substances. Yes, it would drive the drug cartels insane, but we could then charge import fees on their products and institute quality controls. This would help ease prison overcrowding, too.

New Orleans would have been forcibly evacuated days before Katrina hit. I would have then *forbidden* anyone to relocate to that area--New Orleans is a great city, but it sits in a bowl surrounded by water! That is a Very Bad Idea.

I would have dramatically increased pressure on Mexico to clean its own house. The government has too much corruption and turns a blind eye to too much organized crime.

In response to 11 Sept...I would have removed Hussein, helped the Iraqis set up a Parliament, turned him over, then packed up and gone home. The message would have been "support terrorists and we'll enact regime change".

Travesties like in the Sudan would not have been allowed to go on. Government do *not* massacre their own people!

*whew* Enough ranting.

First thing I’d do was pull out of the UN. At best the UN is a b*tch session and points to the developed counties and say you don’t give us enough aid. Never mind the most of those requesting aid are just lining their pockets and not helping their country.

Next I’d have a friends list, if you want aid you have to be on the friends list. That means no bad mouthing the US, no helping those who want to destroy the US. If you want trade then you have to open your boarders to our goods also.

I would pull back all military to server our security interests and the interests of our friends, if any other country wants security they have to do it themselves.

Any country that directly supports an attack on the US, will be dealt with severely. We will respond by bombing, every dam, every city, every power plant in your country. No we won’t bother to invade, or help rebuild, you helped to attacked us; we’ll just return the favor. Trust me it’ll only happen once, after that they will leave us alone.

Energy independence, we would do everything to become energy independent. Nuclear, coal, oil from algae, solar, everything. If we depend on other countries for our energy they have power over us.

Next I would change the flood insurance rules, you only get it once. If you are in a flood we will buy your house and land and level it and NEVER permit a building to be built there again. You are whole, we paid the fair market value of your house before the flood, if you want to live in a flood plain or next to the ocean, don’t expect the government to pay and bail you out again and again. If you want to live where it floods then don’t take the money, as long as the government isn’t paying for it I really don’t care where you live.

I would secure the boarders, all the boarders. I would hold every president and CEO personally responsible if it found they have illegal aliens working for them. This means a fine of at least 100X the minimum wage for every man hour worked by the illegal aliens, plus the cost of shipping them back to their country. That fine and cost would be FULLY charged to the President, CEO and the company.

Illegal aliens would be deported immediately, no right to trial, no lawyer. If you come here seeking asylum, and are traveling on forged or “borrowed” papers, you must turn yourself in immediately, if you wait until you are arrested to seek asylum, its too late.

Last one, on law suits, if you lose you pay. The loser pays for the lawyer, courts costs, their lost time from work, everything. If you lose it’s only fair that the winner be reimbursed for the cost of defending themselves against you. That would end a lot of stupid lawsuit.

Now I know congress would let any of this through, but they would spend at least eight years arguing and fighting over this and it would give the citizens of the US a break from all the silly laws that congress is passing now.

The short answer: I would have hired/appointed people that had some actual qualifications instead of hiring/appointing my policial hack friends to positions for which they have no experience and know absolutely nothing. Example: Before joining FEMA, Michael Brown was the Judges and Stewards Comissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association (1989-2001). Yeah, that makes sense.

I don`t blame Bush Jr. for the republicans giving freely our business could because of the fact all of it started with Reagan lifting value lists and Clinton did no longer help by employing signing the Republican NAFTA contract. I blame Bush for ignoring 911warnings by employing his head of anti-terrorism and invading a rustic that had no longer something to do with 911. even with the incontrovertible fact that I do credit Bush for procuring extra human beings then ever politically energetic that for the duration of any different case does no longer have.
