Sometimes, it 's better not to know something about some of the people that we love. I wish I did not know some things about a certain person who is a close relative. It makes me very sad. So yes, the way I am feeling today, I would rather be happy and not know the things that I know about this certain person. I know you are probably talking about world events, so I will briefly comment on that. Believe it or not, I feel the same way about them. In the end, God is going to take us all to Heaven, so why worry about it. Hope this helps a little. Grams

First, I assume this is real life and not some utopian dream. If so, we know that perpetual "happiness" is impossible and that "unhappiness" (even depression) will enter our lives at some point.

Therefore, I would rather "know everything" because then I can deal with "depression" when it arrives and very likely can turn it into "happiness" by eliminating the cause of the depression.

However, "knowing nothing" does not allow me to prepare for the inevitable "unhappiness" and I will be unable to defend myself against it.

The bottom line is that "ignorance is NOT bliss." It's simply ignorance.

I'd rather know nothing and be happy because people who seem to know everything usually only know something but are viewed as knowing everything. Then time passes and all their grand ideas and propositions fall by the wayside as new discoveries are made. Example is Newton and geometry, Einstein where some of his theories are disproved or questioned now.
Our knowledge is transient. Only if it is helpful is it worthwhile. Only if it brings some or many happiness is it worthwhile.

No no. If its something that I know within my heart is ''happening'' then i better know it...or else..its going to break my heart (or urs in this case) if you know it at some time when u really would get dejected. It depends on what you know. If you know everything, just about everythign under the sun....whats the big deal...ur wife left u, ur gf left u, or u murdered someone, or someone murdered someone else..so...so what ???? there are solutions for every one of those answers and questions that you know nothign and everything about, and yet, get over it, jump forwrd, and be happy thatyou know everything...

But, i would never ever want to know when, how, why I will die off. No one wants to know when they die....now that woudl not depress me...but..it woudl certainly change my life forever..so...

I would rather know nothin and be happy i guess...

goodluck

Have to go with G here.

If you knew everything you'd know how pointless depression was.

Still, the point of life is survival, NOT happiness.

So, if depression is my ticket to knowledge and power, bring on the Zoloft.

I shall rename you blissful idiots, henceforth you shall be called .....

....... Lunch.

First of all, there is no limit to what we can know.
Being oblivious to any fact won't change the effect that it might cause.
And knowing everything should not necessarily bring about depression. It depends upon your perspective: How much load can you manage to comprehend.
It is obvious that a narrow-minded guy could go crazy trying to choose the latter.

this is a very good question, and one i have asked myself for the last 5 years...not knowing has given me faith and hope and feel happy, and then i often wonder what the truth is, cause i always like to be on top of things, i like been on the ball, but i worry if i were to find out and it wasnt what i expected or hoped for, id lose all faith and the hope would be gone, and it would hurt me deeply...but then i suppose knowing the truth, if it were to be bad it would make me move on from the current situation, id be hurt but eventually id move on, and find something new...and if i chose to not know, then id always be thinking of what i dont know and it wouldnt make me feel at ease for long...what im trying to say is not knowing will leave you in the same place for ever, youd never be able to move on out of a bad situation, or youd never be able to move forward..like my situation not knowing has left me in this same place for 5 years without been able to move forward, the truth may really hurt me, but id have no choice but to close that chapter and open a new one

I would rather know everything and be depressed. I would eventually be able to figure out how to cure my depression.
