H there, I on't know where you live but in England folic acid is routinely advised for the first twelve completed weeks of pregnancy as this is the period that your baby's back is forming and the folic acid's purpose is to ensure no abnormalities of the baby's back. After 12 completed weeks (i.e. 12 weeks +6 days) Folic Acid is no longer necessary. In terms of the iron, in England women are only given iron suplementation in pregnancy if it is required (i.e. iron count is low) or the pregnant woman advises us of a poor diet with few iron rich foods.
Always abide by the advice you've been given but if you are unsure or the iron is giving you side effects there are different forms of iron you can take to help this.
Hope this helps!

Nope , all women who may conceive a child need to take folic acid on a daily basis , Sister was given this information during pre natal classes ( bit late)

you should really take folic acid all the way through but you can't take iron supplements untill you are 16 weeks pregnant.

folic acid is generally only given during the first trimester to help prevent birth defects, but prenatal vitamins should be taken throughout the entire pregnancy.
I live in canada so rules might differ in other places but this what the docs have always done for me.

if you want to get pregnant you should have been taking folic acid for years before even thinking about getting pregnant. and ask your doctor these questions, people here don't even know what to name their dogs.

That's when it's most importnant, but you should continue taking prenatals throughout your whole pregnancy, and as long as you are nursing.
