I am really stunned that a man is sueing Jet Blue airlines stating discrimination. He is of Arabic descent and wearing a shirt that is written in Arabic saying "WE WILL NOT BE SILENT". He states he was intimidated but what about those travelers that were intimidated by him? Now he will be awarded money for this. This is outrageous! If I were wearing a similar shirt in his country I'd be shot and beheaded. What was he thinking? Lets weigh this and see what happens......
100 people on a plane 98 are intimidated by this guy and he should be rewarded. Lets face it he has only been here since 2005, whos to say he isn't a terrorist. Just because he married an American citizen, does that make him a Good guy? I don't think so! What do you think?

My father, a very patriotic Vietnam Vet was on his way to see my grandfather who had just passed away was pulled off the line and searched and held for over a half hour because of all the POW patches and pins he was wearing and never thought of suiing the country he fought for. Oh and how Ironic the screener was someone who was obviously of a diffent nature ;).
Truth!

Do me a favor, go in a Movie theater and yell Fire, then claim freedom of speech and see where it gets you "IN JAIL" Same thing applies to the people who are known to blow up anything that has to do with America. You have the right of freedom of speech, but it is wrong when others feel threatened but what comes out of your mouth or even what may be written on a shirt! There is a time and place for everything, this was not the time or place for this!

I'll tell you what he was thinking ......my own personal opinion ofcourse.........LAWSUIT BABE!!!!!!
Funding !!!!!! Easy way to get some cash!!!!!

Could 98 people walk into the airport, all of different race wearing the same or similiar Tee shirt's as this person did and can they too shout discrimination. Oh we should take a stand NOW!!!!
Hmmmmmmm... protest....boycott..... this is rediculous....outrageous!!!!!

Its kinda an iffy subject isnt it?
I mean after all....those that disagree will VOICE an opinion and those that agree will VOICE an opinion.
Anyhow, yes I agree anyone has the right to wear what they want to wear and some may say that he shouldnt have been ask to leave and others may say what some have already said here, but just as he has RIGHTS and you have RIGHTS...
Us so called racist have rights to.
Good ol amercia....
Those people in the airport have the right to be intimidated and to voice concern regarding the writing on the shirt. We seen there rights being inforced only for them to be shoved down there throats!

Example he won the FREAKIN LAWSUIT!!!!!! He should have been awarded a plaque for intimidation, not cash.

I wonder if he had walked into an elementary school with that shirt on IN AMERICA and sat next to yourt child would you have felt somewhat INTIMIDATED/SCARED/FEAR for your childs safety?
Maybe not since you are the VOICE that disagree's with this so called RACISM.

IS this RACISM? Not in my opinion and just as you have a right so do I. I suppose you would have been perfectly content with sitting next to this person on the plan. No doubt in your mind that this couldnt possibly be another suicide bomber.....RIGHT!
GZZZZZZ well guess what.... you cant have it both ways, even though we want it both ways... prime example 911
Do you honestly think that a suicide bomber is going to give a SH^T about you not being racist.
Oh excuse me MR. Bomber but Im all for what your trying to accomplish . Oh really say's the bomber...well then you wont mind when I pull the f^*ckin pin and we all freakin exploded.

Hey by the way you can recognize all of us so called racist people by looking all around. Were the multi colorful group surrounding you

Step off your high horse soon !!!!!

You wont last long in this war!

Please keep in mind that this is just my own
Personal Opinion which I am intitled to!!!!!!

I saw that news report.
They should not even considered asking him!!!!

They should have just escorted him by dragging him off and telling him to remove the shirt, ran a background check etc etc.

Once they wouldn't let a guy on a plane one time, because he smelt really bad?
and another guy because he had a skirt on and no panties!!!

With someone like this guy and the Arabic writing is an insult to all Americans, no matter what color or race!
This is the sign of the times.............if I was on the jury, no money for him, but I'd give him some time in jail for appearing terrorist like!

They wanted to do this to me, when I complained about being put through the drug and chemical machine that blows stuff off of you, to see if you have come in contact with the stuff.
and
there was "Abdul" over there going right through the line!!

He has a right to fly without being harassed, regardless of his ethnicity, nationality, or T-shirt. I'm with him -- if people lumped me in a category of dumb Americans just because a few jerks ruined it for me, I'd be wearing a smart-*** slogan on my clothes, too.

Let's really examine this shirt thing. Why should he be silent? If it were me, I wouldn't be, and based on this question of yours, I doubt you would be, either. It might be that you'd be beheaded in another country for speaking your mind, but that's why this is America! Since that's where we live and that's where this incident took place, then that's the laws that apply to the situation -- and he had a right to be on that plane. Plus, if the shirt was written in arabic, how did anyone know what it said? It's not like we all understand Arabic.

"Who's to say he isn't a terrorist"?? Are you serious? Who's to say he is?? This is America, buddy, and you are presumed innocent until you're proven guilty -- you don't have to prove that you're NOT a terrorist.

And while we're on the "this is America" theme, no one, especially if you're ever on this website, should be stunned that anyone is suing anyone. We sue anyone and everyone we want in the good ol' U.S. of A.

God Bless America.

I think that our society is too busy kissing Muslim's @rses when we should be putting them through extra screening. Lets be honest here, who's more likely to blow up a plane, an old white lady, a young black man or an arabic man wearing a dress?

Exactly. So why are the former required to take off their shoes and get felt up at the airport? It's not fair, it's stupid. It's like having a pink elephant in the corner of the room that nobody wants to talk about.

First off, in "his country" they don't have a constitution that values freedom. So that point of yours is moot.

Second, it doesn't matter if other people were intimidated by him, he still has rights. Everyone on that plane could be scared because of his race/shirt, but if that is the only reason for not letting him on the plane, that is called segregation (illegal).

The fact is that because he was Arab, and wearing that shirt he was not let on the plane. What his case says: that if a white person was wearing the same shirt, they would be let on the plane. That means he is being discriminated against because of his race. And as long as there is no other evidence or reason to believe he is not just another traveler, it is illegal to deny him his rights.

this is taken from what I gathered from you post. I would have to see more info to go further.

The same freedom that allows you to spout off your racist message allows him to wear a shirt that says "We will not be silent". It is too bad that some people are afraid of him because of his race. Racism should NEVER be tolerated.

You said: "I were wearing a similar shirt in his country I'd be shot and beheaded." - Since I don't know what country he is from, I'm just going to have to assume that was simply another racially based statement. regardless if you are right or not, that is not the law HERE. "What was he thinking?" - That the first amendment applies to everyone.

Maybe you should take a hard look at yourself and deal with your hatred of people that are different than you.

And I hope that you have to live where you are judged by your color or appearance instead of on you character.

It's amazing what civil suits people file and ultimately win over things of this nature. He shouldn't receive anything as he is entitled to nothing.

It's sad that individuals like this win when in foreign affairs an American would more than likely not receive this kind of attention or restitution.
