There are a couple of companies that sell what you're talking about. There's the SixSixOne pressure suit, and Bohn body armor. For street riding, chest protection is of questionable usefulness. You're looking for a mix of impact protection (which the body armor will give you) and abrasion protection (usually provided by a leather or cordura outer layer).

Several manufacturers make good hot weather gear. The Joe Rocket Phoenix was the first of its kind, but just about everyone makes a similar product these days.

Check out newenough.com and motorcyclecloseouts.com for cheap gear. I've shopped at both of them, and have been quite happy.

I wear all the gear, all the time. Usually that means a Cycloak jacket and firstgear pants. I have a set of ventilated gear, too. Is it a topic of conversation? Sure. Most people ask, "aren't you hot?" I have a variety of responses. F'r instance, "I'd rather sweat than bleed."

Even the ventilated gear is a little hot when it gets really scorching, or you're stopped in rush hour traffic. However, it's a lot easier to wipe sweat OFF than to wipe skin back ON.

Good luck!

Will you have patience to dress like a ninja every time you take out your bike? By looking at these so called "armour" (I would rather call it a costume) seems like it will take about half an hour to get into. Don't be paranoid about safety. Just wear normal jeans with leather jacket on top, shoes that cover your ankle and preferablly without laces and of course a full face helmet. Jeans is hard enough to prevent road rashes if your speed is around 60mph. Edit: i understand your concern, but still by the look of this ARMOUR it looks more like a showoff costume rather than an actual armour. But than again every man has his own openion. Here are few riding tips (most of them i learnt in the hard way) Make good use of your horn, honk every time you pass a car. Signal on every turn. Drive like you're invisible and keep close eye to the cars beside and in front of you. Ready to make a move seconds before the caged drivers. Try to stay a good distance away from cars and try to pass them as soon as possible although never cross them on a turn. And trust me on this honking the horn agressively helps a lot. Ride safe.

Go with the jacket and pants. It does get hot but you can easily remove it when you reach your destination. It gets cold in the winter. If you buy the other style, chances are you will wear it around (into the store....) and yes people will make fun of you. I ride every day and wear my jacket, even when it is hot. I was cut off and went over the bars 10 years ago doing 100+ on a GSXR. I was in shorts, tank top, and bare foot (stupid). I walked away missing the tips on ALL my toes, the entire right side of my body and left shoulder was road rash. I broke T-11 & T-12 in my back. I was bed ridden for almost 6 months. If I was wearing a jacket, pants and boots, my back would have been the only injury. Hind sight is 20/20

Monday I finally bought a new jacket. The old leather has just about had it. Seams need re-stiching again and the cuffs are plumb wore out. Funny thing about the new jacket. It's everything the old one wasn't. Textile, waterproof, windproof, and CE armor. I'll wind up wearing it all the time, simply because when I ride, I wear my jacket. And I always ride.

Image is for those that want to blend in. I don't mind standing out.

There are alway those that will flap their gums. It's better to give them something to talk about than let them make it up.

I'd go for the jacket, as it will stop abrasion too, but make sure the Armour is CE rated or you could be wasting your time.

As for jeans I use Draggin Jeans. They are fabric (either denim or a cotton with a woven Kevlar lining) so keep cool but give an element of protection. Now I think of it they do a Kevlar shirt which may be an option to go with the body armour option.

You should also invest in a decent pair of boots (I use daytona's) and gloves too.

As for worrying about the looks you get or the heat, think about whats more important to you as you bounce down the road after hitting a patch of oil.

Don't worry about what other people think. Protect yourself. Most people will think its cool that you ride (my experiance). The jacket I wear has a zip out liner and zipper vents that make it possible to adjust to just about any temperature. Same thing with the pants. I also wear gloves with hard knuckles and sturdy boots.

Ride Safe,
Dave

Dude if they want to laugh ---- them. I really doubt the fish net thing would hold up if you slid on the road. Check out the Blaster by Joe Rocket it is perforated leather.

My Dad had all the armor on ur talkin about, and when he wrecked, he died. So my advice is if u value ur life don't ride. U will leave people behind who will ask themselvs everyday what they could of done to get u off that stupid thing.
