A decent man, sensing these women were forced into this, would not have participated.

*sigh* some of these comments are so sad and unproductive. You need to understand that not all Japanese people are nationalist lunatics. THERE ARE Japanese historians and teachers who believe that Japanese soldiers did commit those war crimes and they are AGAINST educational censorship by their government. Germany is very transparent about the events of the Holocaust and they have museums dedicate to the Holocaust. Though I'm not saying they Japanese government has to do this, but aren't they receiving more heat by initiating this censorship? I mean, that is the first thing that pops up in google for god sakes.

I cannot understand why this practice was not part of the war crime trials after the war. All of the Japanese who took part in this mass and continuous rape should have gone to the Gallows. You do know that both Korean and Chinese women were forced into these brothels on threat of death, I assume.

i think it was a really horrible thing to do and it shouldn't of happened but it was war and in war people loss their sense of morals, they are completely different to how they would have been if they didnt go to war, they just wanted to satisfy their needs and didnt care about how it was done in saying that im not supporting what happened. another interesting fact i think you should know is that the comfort women were not just used by the Japanese the Americans solider also did

and for the comment above people change when they go to war they really couldn't care how they were forced into to this they just wanted to satisfy their needs

As a Japanese, I think this is a shame of Japan and one of the worst things what Japan had done in the past.

True that some people say they did that for good sake for everyone.
Good sake? Oh, come on!

The worse I saw (a photo) was a woman whose arms and legs were strapped to a chair with her legs up and open for ready access. I won't share what I think...

I think it was an atrocity, and criminal. Anyone that can equate rape with comfort is a psychotic fool.
