I have SBC Yahoo DSL and I am currently using a 2 wire. I also have an extra WRT54g Linksys router. Is it possible to connect the Linksys to the 2wire for more ports. If so how do I do this? Do I need to hook the Linksys to another computer, and if I can't use the Linksys what do I need to do this?

Yes it is possible to connect the linksys to the 2Wire Router. Make sure 2wire is set to give out DHCP. and from your computer find out what ip address you are receiving. After you get that info go ahead and connect your linksys to your pc and to the 2wire lan port. Make sure the cable is coming from the 2wire lan port to you Linksys wan port that will allow linksys to talk to the 2wire. Than in linksys setup page make sure to set it up as a obtain ip address automatically, and save the settings. Linksys will get a ip address from the 2wire and after connecting the pc you will be able to browse.

What do you mean by 2wire? Telephone wire vs computer network cabling? No, you connect the telephone wire (2wire) to the DSL modem and from the modem you use CAT5 network cable and connect it to the router. Once you have the router, you can connect as many switches, hubs and routers together as you want.

Yes, I have pretty much the same setup ...

Your router will probably be setup to to standard tcp/ip (perfect for cable modem), but not so perfect for DSL. DSL doesn't talk standard tcp/ip, it talks PPPOE (point to point protocol over ethernet).

You'll find (on the linksys setup page I believe) a place to make it talk PPPOE.

Your DSL Modem will need to be placed in pass through mode.

Give your service provider a call. They'll talk you through the process...it's not hard, just different.

Good luck!
