I had a bouquet of bright, vibrant Gerb daisies for my wedding. I wanted originally to have them preserved, but every floral preservation place I talked to basically made it sound like it was going to be ridiculously expensive. So I decided to take it on my own to pop the heads off the daisies and use the microwaveable silica gel to dry them so I could put them in a shadow box. But when I did that, it made the daisies look really country... the magenta turned reddish brown, the white turned yellow and and the sunshine orange turned almost brown. I am most definitely NOT a country decor sort of gal - I didn't even like the idea of DRYING them in the first place... I have 4 daisies left in perfect condition still that have been in water on my desk at work... I am dreading losing them... Is there ANY way to preserve them - and the BEAUTIFUL color that they are or am I just SOL?? If I'm SOL, I'll just go to the craft store and find silks and dry a couple heads to save in a scrapbook. HELP!

I would talk to someone who knows a lot about flowers. I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about thoughs flowers. I would look in the phone book and find a flower place or something and talk to them. It also depends when your wedding is.

As a retired professional floral designer, I can ( to use your expression ) tell you you are SOL. No flower retains the same ' life ' color. They either darken, or fade. It depends on the method you use to preserve it.
