The East is horrible. I am from boston and i drive by the TD Banknorth Garden everyday. I see the place i think to myself "I cant wait to go and watch the games."

PROS:
The Celtics got two stars KG and Ray Allen. Not only these guys are great at their positions but they also played in the western confrence for so long. They will do very good because their division is weak compared to the other two divisions. The Central and Souteast had three teams going to the playoffs each, but the celtics only had two. Raptors had a great year, i dont think they will do this good next year, the nets are getting weaker and weaker and they can easily beat NY and Philly. They are going to win the division without a problem. They will easily be the 2nd or 3rd seed in the east. The only team that is going to challange them is cleaveland and detroit. They are also planning to sign Reggie Miller if this happens their bench will be decent too.

CONS:
Last season the celtics had a great bench but this year they will probably have the weakest bench in the NBA if Reggie Miller doesnt come through. Even if Reggie signs the celtics dont need help at SG/SF/PF, they need help at PG and i doubt Reggie is going to play the point (which would be a sight to see). The starting guard is probably going to be Rondo. He is a great player dont get me wrong but he cannot pass as well he should be. In the next 8 years he will probably be one of the best defensive point guards, he has got long lanky arms and wide wingspan. he cannot shoot either. If this means that Garnett has to take care of passing the ball then thats just weak. Starting Center is probably going to be Kendrick Perkins. other than him they dont have a true center. Their bench is pretty weak which consists of Tony Allen and Brian Scalibrine. You know you have a problem if these two are your best players on the bench. The Celtics really need a true point guard, they cannot get Steve Nash or Deron Williams but someone of Andre Miller or Tinsley Caliber.

BOTTOM LINE: They need a guard and a little depth at C, They will deff win the Atlantic Division, but i think they will be the third seed and lose in the confrence finals.

Boston is definitely one of the favorites to win the east after forming one dymanic trio. However, you should keep in mind that they now have no bench and will most likely have to depend on their starting lineup for an average of 40+ minutes every game. KG has been a consistent performer his entire career so I would be worried about him. It's Ray Allen and Paul Pierce that you should be worried about. Ray Ray has had 2 ankle surgeries within the last 5 years and he could be on his last legs. Pierce is a little more durable but that elbow surgery he just had is just one of the indicating factors that may have an effect on his game. But I do like Boston's chances this year since, teams won't be able to clamp down on either one of the 3 muskateers like they were able to when they were the # 1 option on their previous teams. Shots should be easier to come by and therefore, limiting their prospects of getting injured. The Celtics still have a lot to prove though, especially after the East received an shot in the arm injection of talent coming from the West Conference (Randolph, Lewis, J-Rich, etc).

are they contenders?!? Yes most def! i am from boston...After not gettin either the 1st or 2nd pick we were pretty much dun for. But it was a blessing in disguise. Its pretty unreal to get one superstar in ray allen, but then to sign another bigger superstar in KG..ridculuous!

Lets be realistic tho, in the words of Steven A Smith..the eastern conference is the JV leauge of the NBA. And the best teams still lay in the west. But this def jumps them from worst in the East to easily the top 2 maybe 3 in the east. If they can stay healthy and maybe get another few pieces, whoa they could be a force.

theres no doubt in my mind they'll be contenders but the only question is there enough basketballs on the court for those three to play together. Ray Allen aquired the ball alot in Seattle it was in his hands 60% of the time. KG can still get double double with just scoring and rebounds but wut bout paul pierce the ball was in his hands alot when it was just him in boston because he was there only prolific scorer. If they can all work together and share the ball they'll make it to the championship. but if we have a bunch of ball hogs we have a bust.

Yes, easily the have been put near the top of the east . Just ahead of the inconsistent teams like Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit. Miami should be better with a healthy Wade and have the best shot to knock them off.

Boston should at least be in the conference finals.

i think they will play 500 or better ball but i honestly do not think allen or pierce could go 82 games, its a proven fact.
