Can you explain those born with deformities or mental handicap?
If we are all equal can you expain the genius and the retarded?
If we are all equal can you expain the voctor and the defeated in sports?
When I hear thwe concept it sounds all warm and fuzzy but...I have not seen it in reality nor in nature.
Is equality a reality based on fact and reason?
Or is it just a fanciful ideal we wish the world was like based on our emotions and wishful thinking?

We are all equal.
In the animal kingdom, there are animals that are born with deformities and mental issues. It is natural.
But with all of the small items that we use to separate us, we are still the same. We are all born, live, and die. That's just it. No one is any more special than the next person.
I have a brother that has mental issues...but he is still my brother, still human, still alive, still has thoughts, dreams, hopes, and aspirations. He is no less human than I, or you.
So it is factual. To think that someone is superior to another is vanity and egotistical. Just because you have more money, doesn't mean you weren't born like me, have challenges in your life like me, die like me. And when you go...what difference does it make how much money, or what awards, or how ''perfect'' you are? It doesn't. The Earth will take you back from which you came. Dust to dust, so to speak.

Seems like you're just trying to cause a pointless debate.
deformities vs. mental handicaps - byproducts of millions of years of biological evolution and natural progression.
the genuis and the retarded - see above.
the victor vs. the defeated - see above.
It's all nature, dude. We coexist with nature, we breath, eat, sleep and interact with nature all the time. It will inevitably change and mold us to its environment, as we evolve to be sustained and protected by it. I mean, do you honestly think that cavemen would just fit right in with modern man? Even still, he would be equal to us as "man" because he essentially was/is man, and has gone through the same processes, both through environmental and biological change.
What's inequality have to do with it? That is a term made up by politicians, slave owners, purists, and separatists. The moment you stop being a "human", possessing [characteristics] "relating to, or typical of man", then you can worry about inequality. Because as far as I know, it's all the same under the skin, bub. It doesn't have to be a wishful thought if people just realize that is THE reality.

Equality in law really means all have an equal opportunity to compete in the race for success, even though it's already clear who the losers are. That way the serfs will think slavery is voluntary.

i think the idea is that all humankind is equal under god, but people don't see it that way. in a perfect world, people with deformities and mental handicaps are COMPLETELY equal to those without. in reality, it doesn't happen, and everybody does it. i try to see everyone as equal, but i'm not perfect, and i know that sometimes, i don't.
anyway,in a perfect world or not, i think it's actions which should define a person

Equality such as that mentioned in the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution has to do with equality before the law. In that arena, we are supposed to be guaranteed equality.
In the areas that you mention such as intelligence and physical abilities, it is readily apparent that we are not equal.

because mental handicap and physical disfigurement are just a single car accident away for all the superior people, likewise every winning streak comes to an end

some are more equal than others. ;)
we all have different strengths and weaknesses. equality of people is more of an ideal, that we should trreat people with equal respect, have equal opportunities for justice and self-improvement, etc.
