They promoted exactly the opposite of what you would think their names indicated.

They do the exact opposite of what their names imply:
Ministry of Truth - Publishes lies and propaganda, alters historical records (Winston Smith's job)
Ministry of Peace - In charge of the ongoing war with Eurasia/Eastasia -- whichever one BB says Oceania is at war with (and has always been at war with, according to the records at the Ministry of Truth).
Ministry of Love - In charge of law enforcement and "rehabilitation" of straying Party members, uses tactics such as torture, beatings, brainwashing, and (probably) sleep deprivation.

There names are exactly what the language of doublespeak is. It is deliberately constructed to disguise or distort actual meaning. These all seem like good places to go when they are actually AWEFULLLL places.
