Center strip has Ballys, Paris, Aladdin, Bellagio, Caesars and across from them is Flamingo, Imperial palace and Harrahs.

For the dollar Bally's will be the best for the buck, The cheapest will be the Imperial Palace.

I recommend Paris for its location and cost, its next to Bally's however much nicer, it's also close to all the action of the center strip and it should not kill your budget.

If you don't need to stay center strip try Terrible's on Paradise road (runs parallel with the strip to the east) they have great deals, and not far from the strip.

If you have the money and like the elegance stay at the Bellagio which is my favorite.

Try www.vegas.com and check out ratings for the hotels as well as what they have to offer.

Have fun and good luck

October is a very good time to visit Vegas. It is not so hot and easier to do things without getting a sun stroke. The choice of hotels is dependent on your budget. The strip hotels are all very good except for Circus circus, Stratosphere, Sahara and the Riviera. Too many kids at Circus Circus and the others are too far away from the rest of the strip. Go to sidestep.com and you can get great room rates from all the different other sites. They compare the best price no matter where they find it. The best way to decide is to remember the simple rule .. location, location, location. You will not be in your room a whole lot of time. Also remember that things appear closer than they really are. You may think it will only take a few minutes to walk to what you can see but it will take much, much longer. That is why October is a good time to come to Vegas.

I live in Vegas, so I don't really know what it's like to stay at one for vacation. But from the reviews of friends and family, MGM, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay are great ones!

I do know that early or mid October would be a good time to visit, it's NOT hot, usually cool weather, but every year is different. September is usually a little bit hot, even the ending of september. =( It doesn't get cool till October. So come in October if you want nice weather.

I've stayed at Binions a few times. It was ok. Nothing that great. The room was like $30 a night thats why i stayed there. From what i can tell all the hotels there look crappy. So no matter where you go your gonna get an average room. I would just cough up some extra money and stay somewhere on the strip. Fremont Street is just to boring. The casinos there are really small (but cheap, so thats a plus), full of old people (you dont get the young party crowd there), and Fremont St. is just way too small compared to the strip. Visit Fremont Street one night for a few hours dont spend your whole trip down there. Its a snoozefest

I've been to Vegas twice, and have stayed at Circus Circus RV park and Hotel respectively. I would NOT reccomend either. The elevators were broken down, and not once during our week long stay were they fixed, and it would easily take a half hour just to get down, no joke. The parking was horrible, we had to park away from our hotel because they had no hotel guest parking and it was always full. Plus they did not make up our room even after asking for it. I can go on and on but I don't want to waste your time.

I have never stayed at it personally, but my friends have and loved Excalibur hotel. MGM is also supposed to be excellent. Bith have many things to entertain yourself or kids if you want to stay in the hotel. It is family friendly, but not overrun with annoying brats.

According to my Mum, the hotels on Fremont street are almost all great. Not as expensive, but they're not on the strip either.

Hope this helps! October and September are pretty good moths to go. November was also nice.

Here's the scoop (ratings are based on AAA) -
1 or 2 Diamond - DON'T DO IT!
3 Diamond - Luxor is the best choice, so try to avoid Excalibur and Circus Circus. It's fun to browse around, but don't stay at those places. If you do stay at Luxor, get a suite. Hampton Inn has nicer standard rooms by far.
4 Diamond - Good choices are MGM Grand, Mirage, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo, but the best choice is the Venetian. They have double sized standard rooms.
5 Diamond - Bellagio is ok, Wynn is better, but the Skylofts at MGM Grand are the best. They offer the best service.

Going in October is a much better choice then when I went (June).

The Stratosphere wich is at the end of the strip so you can start walking at the end and make your way down the strip and take the bus back to your hotel they also got a nice pool which has a excellent view of las vegas.... Price around $75 Sundays and Mondays and weekends around $150

As someone that has stayed at almost every hotel on the strip. I love the Flamingo. Its not too pricey, it is smack dab in the middle of the strip, and there is a monorail station attached to it. Makes getting around super easy. There is sooo much walking when you are in Vegas, it helps to be central. Plus they have a very fun pool area. One of the best pools on the strip...particularly for a less expensive hotel. And pretty much anytime of year is good for Vegas. October is fine.

The easy answer is...it depends. If you are looking for the best hotel cost no object, the Wynn, Bellagio, and Venetian usually top the list. Next up are New York New York, Paris, Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo. You will have a great time no matter where you stay.
