That is what was believed back in the day, but research has shown that it has nothing to do with it. It's all hereditary in your immune system. I did a report on this in nursing school. It is false.

Plus, I was not breast fed and I can count on my hands the times that I have actually been sick and I'm 27.

Nope. There have been many, many studies (paid for by proponents of breast feeding) that state that babies that are breast fed are healthier, but I think there are a whole lot of other factors. My oldest son was breast fed for 2 1/2 YEARS - and he was a sickly baby, and is now a sickly middle schooler. My youngest was breast fed for 4 months and is a sickly elementary school kid (but less sickly than my oldest). I've met people who absolutely refused to breast feed, and had healthy, happy babies. Tell mom to stop blaming herself, and go to an allergist, a general practitioner, and a nutritionist (maybe even an endocrinologist and/or rheumatologist). Get some tests run and find out why you're getting sick all the time.

Your mom shouldn't beat herself up about something that she did or didn't do when you were an infant. It is true that breast feeding an infant provides many immunological resources that can not be manufactured and put into bottled formula. The total spectrum of factors have not even all been identified yet, however you have had your own immune system for a very long time and it would be very unlikely that your current state of health would have anything at all to do with breast feeding as an infant.

Breast feeding does protect babies from illness in the early stages, but that wouldn't affect you now. My mum tells me I wasn't breastfed for very long (I grew teeth quickly!) and I was as healthy as most kids.

Do you really get sick that often? It might be that you mix with a lot of infectious people :) If it's just colds, try eating curry or chilli because they often help clear up a nasty cold.

There are nutrients in the breast milk you will never obtain anywhere else. That is true.
You should read up on how to boost your immune system with vitamins and minerals. There are lots of things out there that will help and keep you from being sick all the time.

It could have something to do with it because one of the greatest benefits to breast feeding is it boost the child's immune system ( which is the system that fights off disease before it takes over the body).

It is true that Breast Fed Children have a better immune system..But that is only true to the germs or infections their mothers had! If Mom didn't have something, her body wouldn't have built immunities to it, and thus it would'nt be carried to you as a Narural Barrier!

If you have something that keeps getting you see your doctor!

Not necessarily. There could be many reasons for you getting sick often. Bad hygiene for one. Do you wash you hands often enough? Do you have allergies that are undiagnosed? It would be so hard to point the finger to not being breastfed.

Ha ha ha ha ha

That may hold true for the first several weeks of your life because your body is taking in mom's antibodies and immunities via her breast milk.

However, ny now you have built up your own immunities and antibodies. It has nothing to do with nursing.

Mom's an idiot
