I don't get it. They're dog fights. You're not hurting another human being, this is just something between two dogs, so why would Michael Vick or anyone get in trouble for this?

I also heard that people never got in trouble for this years ago, so that makes it extremely unfair to the people who get in trouble for it now.

Congratulations - you may have just set a record for most incredibly stupid comments in one question.
First of all, it's a felony. Second, anyone that feels that training an animal for the sole purpose of killing another animal simply for the sport of it obviously has no concept of what cruelty is. Third, no, people didn't get into trouble for dog fighting years ago. But people also didn't get into trouble for marrying 14 year olds or owning slaves either (both which were legal) So I suppose we should allow people to do those things as well.
The fact that it is a felony to train dogs to fight is the sign of us being more civilized then the barbarians of the past.. I would suggest you try to at least get your thinking up to the early 20th century before making ignorant comments such as this.

Oops - just saw by your profile questions that you are a wrestling fan. That explains a lot.

Actually, its not between two dogs. It is between two dog owners. The dogs don't really have a choice.

Aside from the fighting being barbaric cruel, inhumane, and sadistic, it is also ILLEGAL.

Oh, and there is also that little detail of what Vick and his cronies did to underachieving dogs. Drowned, hanged, beat to death, shot, or just slammed to the ground until they died.

If you don't so anything wrong with that, not much point in trying to explain it.

As to your second "point" If you break the law and you get caught, you "get in trouble". Just because someone else didn't get caught doesn't make it unfair that Vick is being punished.

at the start he made a great sort of money along with his dogs fights, so i think of he could would desire to pay a great penalty to reimburse the government and the police for their expenditures in investigating, arresting, attempting and incarcerating him. 2d i think of he could would desire to bathe the community animal rescue stalls, and bathe , feed, walk and groom the animals a pair of days each week for the the remainder of his existence. not something will make up for the discomfort and suffering he brought about those dogs, yet consistent with danger his coronary heart would be humbled with the aid of having to do provider to homeless animals. yet i think of human beings could pray for Vick. he's a ill person. i've got not got any admire for him. Do you? some human beings say "If I had extra money, it could remedy all my issues. He had all of the money he would desire to prefer, despite the fact that it did not remedy his concern ... his concern of being a despicable guy or woman.

I hope you're kidding with this. Do you know what's involved in a dog fight? It's not just taking two random dogs and making them fight. These dogs are born, and then trained and tortured from birth to molded and modified into killing machines. If they didn't perform to their satisfaction they were executed in extremely cruel ways like being burned alive or hung. I mean, would you allow your own pet, who you most likely consider as one of the family, get involved in something like this? I should hope not.

Not only does anyone involved in this deserve to punished, they deserve to be punished severely.

People weren't punished in past for this because it wasn't a huge industry back then. Over the years it's become a national phenomenon that includes all types of animals, not just dogs. It's beginning to plague every major city in the US and it should be put to stop as soon as possible.

A quite frankly, just because somebody was doing something wrong in past doesn't mean that they don't deserve to be punished for it now.

These animals are not fighting of their own free will, they are brought up in brutal situations and taught to fight as pups. They are often treated cruelly and many times die from the wounds inflicted upon them by other dogs and their owners.
This is an extremely cruel "sport" and it should not be tolerated, anyone who breaks the animal cruelty laws should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Since you apparently are one of those delusioned types without either a heart or a conscious, I'll just say that to encourage any of Man's most loyal and forgiving creatures to fight for survival merely for the "sport" of it is to reveal yourself to be totally unfeeling, unscrupulous, shallow-minded and mean-spirited. It is also illegal and immoral. Small wonder you have been unsuccessful with women, as your profile states.
