Freddie, all the way. The dude can sing opera.
But if you like both, may I suggest Under Pressure? Awesome song, nice vocals, the best bass line ever. (After Another One Bites the Dust, of course)

Dead rock stars always win in the polls. Bowie is, by an enormous margin, much more innovative, and has risked his career numerous times to take a new direction with his music despite the prevailing winds of the time. But Queen was one of the all-time greatest rock acts, so what is the question? Who did a better job of not being fake?
I guess it is a good question being as we are surrounded by gimmick acts in rock, country, rap, everywhere.
I vote for the Grateful Dead, there has never been a more gimmick-free band than that.

Although Freddie had a more talented voice, I think David Bowie was more fearless at creating new trends in music and fashion.
Cheers to both, though!
