Not right now, but much later down the road I'd like to have children. Preferably after I'm married and settled in and knowingly can afford to start a family. Unlike some of my friends who have 4 kids, and unstable lives.

I've been on Birth Control for 3 years, given that...how long after being off birth control will it take to get pregnant?

It really depends on what type of birth control you are on.
If you are using Depo-Provera Injections then it could take years to regain the ability to get pregnant.
If you are taking something like the pill, patch, or ring, then your fertility should resume within 3 cycles or so.
Also, if you were regular before going on birth control then you have a better chance of being regular after coming off it and getting pregnant quicker. But, if your period were irregular before starting birth control then it is likely they will still be irregular when you stop it.
Also, good for you for planning how you want to have your children and waiting til you are stable and ready!

regardless of how long you've been on the pill, the hormones should be out of your system within 3 months. They don't build up in your system over the years, that's why you have to keep taking them. There is the same birth control related hormone now as there was after the first month of you taking them. Having said that, you can pregnant as soon as you stop taking them, though the average couple takes 6-12 months from the time you discontinue them.

It usually takes 6 months to 1 year for all those hormones to completely leave your system. Also, what helped me to get preggy quickly was I took Geritols (yes the old folks vitamins) everyday. There are 90 vitamins in the bottle and I was preggy just about when I took my 85th one. Good luck future mommy to be!
