The best I've attended so far is the Battle of Bentonville in North Carolina. Fighting on original ground and fighting very close to the exact hour and day. It was 2 full days of fighting with most far away from spectators or anything modern. Tons of oppertunity to get caught up in the moment and step back in time.

The one where nobody shows up, nobody dies. People become enlightened and find compassion freeing the slaves willingly. (perhaps progress in integration etc., would move along faster without war bitterness).
