There are a few different ways that it could help you.

By staying organized, you have a clean space to keep a clear head so you can be more focussed when you study, and it's also easier to keep track of your stuff better so you stay on top of your assignments (not getting lost or ruined or forgotten).

The assumption is that cleaning isn't always the most fun thing to do...so doing it anyway teaches you discipline for other things that aren't a lot of fun but need doing anyway. Sometimes studying isn't fun either but if you know how to buckle down and get things done from keeping up with your room, fun or not, it helps you have a good work ethic in school...and later at work.

Keeping a clean room helps you have a place not only to study better, but to sleep better, to relax and have fun, keep track of your having-fun stuff. So then you can have a nice well-rounded life. Relaxation and fun and downtime helps everyone doing their best work, whether you are a student or have a paying job.

Plus having a clean room is just a good way to live. When you take care of your room, you take care of yourself. If you have good self-esteem you know that you deserve having a sanitary, organized, and pretty place to live. Doing well in school is another part of treating yourself well, it is taking responsibility for getting information so you can have a good future.

Keeping your room clean is part of an attitude that leads to success in a lot of aspects of your life.

I think it is something that the older generation believed. I don't even think they know why.

It can be helpful in a few ways:

It can help you to be more organised. This will help with school and homework assignments. It will help you to plan, schedule and organise your work and assignments in an orderly and efficient way. This will be extreemely helpful when you strat working.

It will also help you to be more neat and tidy. This will also help you in the presentation of your school work and assignments. It can also help with presentation on exams.
If your work is neat and tidy, there will tend to be less chance for making mistakes. It will be easier for you to analyse your work and trace back your steps, if you are trying to figure out something.

When you keep your surroundings cleaen and orderly, you will be condintioning yourself to be clean and orderly. This will help you function better. Your mind will be used to order so you will go through the day, naturally putting things in order. There will be less kaos and confusion in your day to day activities.

Untidy and disorganised surroundings tend to trap negative energies. It disrupts the natural flow of positive energy. It can cause dust to accumulate which can affect your alergies and health.

Clean and neat surroundings are better for your health and your attitude.

I did not realise there was so much benifits myself.

However, there are many geniuses who are extreemely untidy. So it is possible to be untidy and still do well at school. But being clean and tidy will help very much at school and then when you start working. Even if you are a genius it will benefit you. If you are not a genius it will still benefit you.

To some people it does others it doesnt. If it bothers you that your room is always messy but yet you never clean it then it can affect your grades. If it doesnt then no it wont. Sounds like it bothers your parents. In your parents case it most likely would help them out if they were in school but their not. But.....if your room is so messy that you do not have space to open up your books then it might. Unless you do your hw somewhere else. Good luck!

If your room is cluttered then your mind is cluttered. It's better to have everything in its place, your room smelling clean, and feeling clean than to have a cluttered dirty room. In order to focus clearly on your homework, on anything having to do with school, your mind need not be cluttered either. When I was in school, I oftened studied in a quiet area, or listened to some peaceful music while I was studying. Also I kept whatever area I was studying in, or doing homework in clutter free and organized, so I could be sure I was able to focus.

all the dust and musty smell in the air can give you allergies, headaches, you will feel congested, slow, tired, sleepy all the time. You would be a new person, bright, happy, lively if you get rid of all that!! and seeing a neat clean room would be the prize!!

It teaches you to be organized. besides, if you don't clean it your mom will have to do it and she probably busts her butt for you already. Think about it. Laundry, cleaning up after you, taxi driver, dishes, cooking, counselor.

C'mon, you made the mess, you clean it up.
