We all have ideas about players who are there whom we feel shouldn't be.
So, if you could replace an existing Hall of Famer with someone who is eligible but not in (i.e. I don't want everybody rushing to replace Edgar Laprade with Sidney Crosby), who would they be, and why do you think the current member should be removed, and why should your member be in?

Why does everybody pick on Bernie Federko? He has more points than Anderson. 130 fewer games than Anderson.
Federko has the 6th highest assist per game average in NHL history
His points per game average is in the top 20 (Anderson isn't even in the top 150 of players with 700 or more games).
Federko was the first player to have 10 consecutive 50 assist seasons (and the syick he used to do it is in the Hall of Fame). Federko reached 1000 pts 100 games faster than Anderson. As for high scoring era.....Federko played the first few years of his career in the late 70s which was a low scoring era, Anderson played his entire career in the the NHL's 20 highest scoring years, Ferderko had 3 seasons out of that window.

Peoples, at 1.13ppg, playing on a bad team, Federko was a unanaimous choice of the Hall of Fame committee. A higher ppg than Gordie Howe and Mark Messier gets you into the hall of fame.
Over the last 20 years, the hall has concentrated on putting players in who had at least a 1.00 ppg. because of this, people like Luc Robitaille (0.974), Dino Ciccarelli (0.974), and Glenn Anderson (0.973) will have problems getting in.
So, who would I put in? There are 4 players who have PPGs greater than 1.00 who are elgible but not in Bernie Nicholls, Adam Oates, Steve Larmer, and Theoren Fleury.
So, I am removing Grant Fuhr, and putting in Adam Oates.
I am removing Grant Fuhr because his goals against average, and his games played per shutout ratio aren't even on the same page as any other goalie in the Hall of Fame. Edmonton would have won the first 4 Cups with Red Light Racicot as their goalie. It wasn't Fuhr, it was Edmonton scoring 10 goals a game.
Why Oates? Well, Oates made everybody he played with look good. He was Yzerman's linemate in Yzerman's best season. He was Brett Hull's linemate in Hull's best seasons. Finally, Cam Neely had his best seasons with Oates (50 goals in 44 games in 1994)
As for Glenn Anderson...........he was the 5th best player on the Oilers.....I'm not sure 5th best players deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.

Sakic will be in the hall on the first ballot no matter what - the rest are all about equall with Hasek ahead by a little. 2 Cups 13 All Star Games 2 50 goal seasons 6 100 point seasons Olympic Gold Medalist 2 Time World Champ World Junior Champ A Smyth, Hart, Byng, and Pearson GP - 1363 G - 623 A - 1006 P - 1629 PIM 608 All this and being Canadian he is way heads up on all of the others - at least in the eyes of the HOF voters.

It's not how players start--its how they finish (or where they finish depending on which teams they play for). Example Glenn Anderson. Why are so many people bashing him? So what if he didn't average a point per game in the regular season. Stanley Cups are not won in the regular season, they are won in the playoffs. Look at Anderson's playoff stats and youll see why he was one of the best ever. Now the people at the Hall of Fame seem to exclude him because he was a deadbeat dad. Big deal. Anybody can do stupid things. Hey even Dave Hunter of the Oilers served time in jail in 1985-86 for impaired driving. Was that stupid? Yes. Was Dave Hunter stupid? No. Geez, he was one of the Oilers' best penalty killers and has three Stanley Cup rings to prove he's a champion. What people do off the ice shouldn't in any way, shape or form affect their entry in the Hall. Now here's another one: Craig MacTavish of the Oilers. He served time in jail for vehicular homicide in the mid 80's and was suspended from playing all of 1984-85. He came back to play for the Oilers and played great, won three Cups (87-88-90) and he's also a success in life by getting the assistant coaching job with the Rangers (1997-99) and Oilers (1999-2000) and finally getting the coaching job with the Oilers.
I would put Glenn Anderson in the Hall of Fame in place of Clark Gillies. Here's the proof that Anderson belongs in the Hall instead of big Jethro:
Anderson--Regular Season: 498G-601A-1099PTS in 1129 Games. Playoffs: 93G-121A-214PTS in 225 Games.
Gillies--Regular Season: 319G-378A-697PTS in 958 Games. Playoffs: 47G-47A-94PTS in 164 Games.
Now Anderson has more goals, assists and points than Gillies ever had. Plus Anderson averaged close to a point per game in both regular season and playoffs. Gillies' points per game dropped substantially in the playoffs. Don't know why the Hall picked him. Guess they wanted the whole Islander line of Bossy and Trottier in there.
It's not always the quantity of goals scored, but it's also the quality. Anderson scored many quality goals in the playoffs against good teams. Game winning goals. Big hits. The guy did everything and now the Hall has robbed him of his opportunity every year since 2000. Thats a total of 8 times he has been robbed now. Time to get him in.

Get Bernie Federko out and put Glenn Anderson in.
Why? Don't you have to first be "famous" to get in a Hall of Fame? Exactly what is Federko famous for? Could you pick him out of police lineup? Big whoop--he scored 1,000 pts in a high scoring era.
Anderson on the other hand was a Kamikaze out there. You can see him in your mind's eye flying in on goal. Scorer of tons of huge goals for the Oil and the Rangers in that '94 Cup run. Heck, he even played for the Make Beliefs so it's not like the Centre of the Universe never saw him up close.

It's not that I'd take anyone out but since the hall of fame is as much for the fans as anyone, shouldn't there be a fan selection every year? With the internet how hard would it be to create a poll that comes up with three candidates the fans want each year and the committee must select one. This way guys like Anderson and Henderson could get in.

I'd take Dick Duff out immediately. He doesn't measure up statistically. Clark Gillies was something of a reach too.
As for replacements, Ciccarelli and Anderson are good choices. I think Rogie Vachon deserves some consideration. He was a good goalie for some mediocre teams over the years and still won a lot of games. Igor Larionov deserves to go in someday.

Bernie Federko for Dino Ciccarelli.
I still don't understand why Dino isnt in there. 600+ goals, two 50 goal seasons, 6 40+ goals seasons, 5 times over ppg in the playoffs.

I would take out Mark Messier and put in John MacLean. Because I'm a Devils fan, and MacLean was a terrific player, and Messier wasn't A Devil, he was THE Devil.
You couldn't pick Federko out of a lineup? You ever seen the man's hair and mustache? You can tell he played in the Seventies. He deserves to be in.
